Carter

I cannot believe I have a 1st grader!  It seems like Carter has grown up so much in the last 6 months.  While he loved Kindergarten, I feel like he is doing so much better in 1st grader.  He doesn’t complain about going in the morning and he looks forward to school.  Such a blessing!  I think the pace is much better for him.  Carter is doing really well in school.  He loves to read, but also loves math and science.  They have been doing some science experiments in school and he loves that.  He can read pretty much anything and has started to bring home chapter books. So exciting!  The teacher in me is very excited about all of this!  He works really hard each day and is exhausted when he gets home.  He still goes to bed at 7:30 each night and is READY when that time comes. 🙂

Carter is my tender-hearted child.  When I get upset with him, he tells me that I hurt his feelings because I’m disappointed in him.  He cries easily and is such a pleaser.  He actually reminds me alot of myself.   While I try to symphatize with that, we still expect a lot of him.  He can be a social child but also really likes time by himself as well.  He plays by himself a lot on the playground at school and I’ve asked him several times why he isn’t playing with other kids.  After several days of this conversation, he finally said, “Mom, I’m with people all day and sometimes I just want time to myself!”  🙂

Carter is playing baseball for the 3rd season right now.  He LOVES baseball and has pretty much decided that it is his favorite sport to play.  Zach is his coach and we all LOVE watching him play.  Carter also loves to play with his Star Wars figures and ships.  He loves to do art and is always trying to invent something.  He loves watching Phineas and Ferb (where he gets the love of inventing things) and Clone Wars.

Carter loves to help.  If he is home when I clean, he is right there beside me helping me clean.  If Zach is working in the yard, he jumps right in there to help.  He doesn’t mind picking up his toys at night and helping his brothers do the same (they aren’t too eager to clean). 🙂   We are so proud of our big boy!

Carter loved this game.  He hit the hole almost every time with the football.

Carter also loved the dunking booth.  He almost had it!

He tried the sack race and struggled.  Unfortunately, it ended with tears.  We made him get up and try again and he did much better.
