Our 4th of July started in Downtown Franklin. Our city has a downtown festival for just about every holiday. There are usually lots of booths set up with food, crafts, clothes, etc… They also have a kids’ area where the boys enjoy doing everything from petting farm animals to jumping in bouncy houses. This was the first time we’ve gone on 4th of July, and it was a lot of fun. We went early (it was SO hot) and came home before lunch and naps. The first thing the boys wanted to do was go in the petting zoo. For a small price, Zach and the boys went into the caged area where you could feed or brush the animals. From the moment they walked in, Seth started crying (mind you, 5 minutes ago he was begging to go in). Then a llama licked Ethan’s hand and he started screaming. Poor Zach was stuck in there with both kids screaming and trying to climb up him. He handed both of them over the fence and they hung out with me while Carter fed and pet about every animal in there. He loved it!
Later that evening we went to a local park to eat a picnic dinner and watch the fireworks with friends. It was a great night. The kids loved the playground and the adults loved the shaded pavilions. 🙂 When the sun started to set, all the kids searched for lighting bugs and had a great time. The boys loved the fireworks. I really expected Ethan to cry but he didn’t. He didn’t smile either. I think he was so tired he didn’t know what to think. He just sat in his little chair and didn’t move until they were over. Carter and Seth loved them and thought each one was better than the last. It was a great day!

Seth and Ethan happy to be on the other side of the fence. 🙂
Carter insisted on taking a picture of Zach and I. Rare for us to get a picture by ourselves…
Ethan LOVED the watermelon. I don’t think I ever got that shirt clean!
